What is the iPod?

Apple's iPod is the most popular mp3 player on the market today.  It can playback thousands of songs in a sleek, stylish device.

Where can I get it?
You can buy the new 4th Generation iPod on Apple's website.

What do you mean by "Generation"?
Apple has done several revisions to the iPod line since its inception.
- The 1st Generation held 5 GB, and was for the Macintosh only.  It was relatively large as well and had an 8 hour battery life.
- The 2nd Generation iPod had three versions to buy: 5, 10, and 15 GB.  It was smaller, had a 10 hour battery life, and was Windows and Macintosh compatible.
- The 3rd Generation iPod increased the size to 10, 20, and 30 GB in size.  It was (yet again), smaller, had a 10 hour battery life, and involved a few design changes.  The buttons around the scroll wheel were moved to the top and glow in the dark.
- The iPod mini isn't a revision of the iPod, but a complete design overhaul.  Aimed at a different type of user, the mini is about half the size of a normal ipod and holds 4GB of music.
- The 4th Generation is Apple's latest revision of the iPod line.  The usual 3 different sizes offered of the iPod were changed to 2: 20 and 40 GB sizes.  The mini now holds the lower pricepoint.

iPod Installation
The iPod is extremely simple to install, however some people have reported problems with the following:
- Firewire ports on Audigy cards usually fail to work with the iPod.
